Install Your Mainboard

START BUILDING YOUR PC

If this is your first time, it is recommended that you go in the order the tutorial describes.

  • INSTALL YOUR MAINBOARD.

First Thing is to Pull the Base Panel/Plate from the Case.
How the base plate comes out varies case-to-case.
In this particular case, the plate is held by guide rails and fastened to the case by a single the back of the case.
Removing the screw allows the plate to be pulled back and swung down from its guide rails.
    • Set the plate down on a non-conductive surface.
    • Look for the screw holes that match the holes in your mainboard.
These are how you'll fasten the board the the plate.
    • IMPORTANT! If you have a Slot 1 or Slot A mainboard make sure you install the CPU Retainers BEFORE you install the mainboard.
    • Install the Mainboard Mounts on the Plate.
    • Install the Mainboard over the Mounts and use the screws from the brown box to fasten the mainboard down.
    • Now is a good time to check the pin settings on your mainboard. The correct pin settings for the CPU, RAM, Front Side Bus (FSB), mainboard speed, etc, can be found in the mainboard's user's manual.
    • If you wish to install the CPU and/or the RAM onto the Mainboard, it won't hurt to do so now. However, make sure you have set the pin settings properly, FIRST. Otherwise, you can continue step-by-step through this walkthrough.
    • Install the Plate, with the Mainboard, back into the case. Reversing the process you used to remove the plate usually works fine.

    • Attach the wires in the case with their proper location on the mainboard. The correct wire settings can be found in the mainboard's user's manual.

Now that you've installed your mainboard, it is time for you to install your CPU and RAM. Let's start with the CPU and then do the RAM.
