Tasha
Born August 11, 2000 as the second kitten to Sassy, at approximately 7PM.
If you asked me if I had a favorite cat, it would be like asking me which one of my kids is my
favorite. My kids are all my kids. There are no favorites. Like any parent, there are no favorites,
but are children to which you may feel closest to.
So now, if you were to ask me which cat I feel closest to, that would be Tasha.
Of all the cats in this household, it would seem she has bonded closest to me. When
I come home from work, she is there. When I go to sleep, she either sleeps right
along side of me, or she will sleep by my feet to let Vedra sleep along side of me.
When I sitting at my computer, as I am now, she is right in the chair beside me,
as she is now. If I get up, she will claim my chair. I had recently added shelving
and put in a bed for her. Sometimes she will go in it, but she still perfurrs the
chair beside me. As a result, Vedra has taken over the bed, originally intended for
Tasha.
It's funny that things turned out the way it did. When she was a kitten growing
into adolesence, she was always doing things we did not want her to do. That includes
getting pregnant at about 6 months. Blame it on me. I knew nothing about cats. I
still don't. And by now, I simply know my own cats. But most of what I learned about cats
came as a series of crash courses from Tasha, including just how early cats can become
moms.
From the time Tasha was a kitten to this day, she loves to roll in dirt. Usually
she ends up looking more like a Burmese cat, instead of straight Black. One day, after
it had been raining for many days, she went out and rolled in the dirt. Still damp,
she was coated in mud. Needless to say, she is also the first cat in our house to get
a wet bath...on OUR terms. That was "fun".
Now days, she knows she is going to get a bath, and is a bit more calmer and I am
a bit more prepared to give her one. However, that has been no deterent. She will roll
in the dirt anyways. She simply tolerates the bath that she knows is coming afterwards.
By now, you can see a difference...Todi is very laid back. Tasha is very head-strong.
On May 10, 2001, Tasha gave birth to five kittens. As the next letter was U and the
lead kitten male, Ulysess was given to the Litter and the lead male. Uniform was not
really a name you can give to a cat. (Tuxedo would make a nice T name, though). Other
kittens in Ulysess Litter were Ursa (Major), Unco, Ubas and Unzen.
